Using RSS in a WordPress Posting

June 23rd, 2008

Now that we have the site up, running and accepting new members I thought it might be a nice time to put together a little post with just a bit of RSSifyMe Code included and I also figured I would do up a video on how to do it.

So here is what I am going to do with this post I am going to publish it with an addition at the end that simply let’s readers get more information on RSS in general. You could do this for any topic and the more niche you get the better. Note the following with this post.

1. I have to do the post, then upload the video to YouTube and then come back and embed it. Hence you won’t see the video in the post while watching the video of it being made. I know this seems obvious but you would be shocked at some of the questions we get.

2. I am doing this post before our programmer Bobby has skinned out the Blog with out site theme. So it will look a bit different.

That said it will show you exactly how to do a bit of RSS integration with all your posting and add to and diversify your content.

RSSifyMe Now Has Our Own YouTube Channel

June 15th, 2008

We just set up our YouTube channel where we will publish all our general videos (everything that is not exclusive to our members) . We also just released a basic video that shows RSSifyMe in action.

To stay up to day with our additions and free video tutorials make sure to subscribe to the official YouTube RSSifyMe Channel.

Premium Memberships are Now Available

June 14th, 2008

We now have the ability for members to become premium members of RSSifyME. This will remove all links and advertising from your feeds. Existing members can upgrade from their members area and new members can simply select the option when you sign up.

The key advantage is of course that you have none of our links or advertising included in your feeds but here are some other additional features that are exclusively available to premium members.

  • You can hide the feed titles of your RSS Sources. This makes your content seamless and makes it impossible to differentiate with manually updated content.
  • Access to other members feeds. Need a feed on a subject, check out our members tag cloud and use a feed created by another member. With constant updating there are no duplicate content issues to worry about.
  • Get new features added monthly. We are committed to adding new features each and every month. This will only be for premium members the free members and unregistered platform will not be upgraded from this point forward.

To get the most current features available visit our RSSifyMe Membership Matrix

The system is in beta still so we are offering an incredible deal right now. Users are required to pay a one time fee of 19.95 and an on going fee of 4 dollars a month. This gives you all the premium features and support for less then a dollar a week recurring charge.

Should you ever cancel your account it will revert to the free version. This means all of your feeds WILL STILL work they will just be subject to our links and advertising. Please understand beta members will lock in these rates, as we add new features (such as the planned automated layout and page generators) we will be raising the cost of RSSifyMe.

Free Memberships are Now Available to RSSifyMe

June 8th, 2008

Our programmers have been working hard and it is now possible to register for a free membership option on RSSifyMe.

With this option you can now have a free account that will give you the following features when using our system.

  • Save, reuse and edit your feeds for new applications
  • Access to free training videos
  • Access to a members help forum
  • Recover old feeds based on tagging

The biggest advantage here is that say today you make a feed about iPods, publish it on a site somewhere and then two weeks later need some iPod content, you can log in, pull up that feed, create a new version of it and use it for the new application.  Modifying your old feed won’t effect the way it is displayed where it was previously used.

So what this means is say today you made a page on iPods using 3 feeds, each pulls 4 items and the feed is 450 pixels wide.  If later you did a post about iPods and wanted to use less content in a  smaller format you could pull up that old feed, cut down the included items to 1 for each feed, set your pixels to say 25 width and generate a new code.  Both sites will still function and display content as your have specified.

This has huge potential and will let members build more sites faster as they build up an inventory of preexisting feeds.

Open in New Window Function Added

June 6th, 2008

We are moving quickly toward both free and premium membership for RSSifyMe but today we added a very cool feature that is available to any and all users.

This is simply the ability to set your feeds to open all links in a new window.  We actually thought about making it a default setting but some people do not want this function so we added it as optional.  The reason to do this is quite simplistic.

Most sites using RSSifyMe will be ad revenue centric.  In other words they will use services like Google adWords, Yahoo Publisher, Kontera or perhaps Amazon Intext Links to derive all or much of their initial revenue.  For such services to produce maximizing CTR (click through rates) is important.  When a users clicks one of the links in your feeds and leaves your site the odds that they will back arrow and then click  an ad are quite low.  So by allowing new window master commands you get more then one shot at a visitor clicking an ad and then completing a purchase or simply making you money off the click itself.

This feature is available to all users and will continue to be even once we add the membership options.

RSSifyMe is Live

June 3rd, 2008

We just released the first beta version of RSSifyMe. The beta is currently for free use only with no registration and feeds therefore won’t yet be saved for reuse and any feeds generated will include our links. That said it will be sufficient for trying out the system and getting a feel for what it will be able to do.

The key advantages of RSSifyME over conventional solutions include…

  • No need to install, run or manage software
  • Publish on any site anywhere that uses PHP
  • Combine Multiple feeds that are always self updating
  • Full control over the look and feel of your published feeds
  • Total skills needed to use it include cutting and pasting and publishing basic web pages in PHP

Please make sure to use our FeedBack Function to let us know what features you would like to see added.
